About Us

SWPK Gallery — The Sylvia Wald & Po Kim Art Foundation is a New York City-based nonprofit arts organization dedicated to fostering meaningful dialogue and exchange between Eastern and Western cultures through the visual arts. Established to honor the legacy of artists Sylvia Wald and Po Kim, whose pioneering practices bridged cultural and aesthetic boundaries, SWPK serves as a dynamic platform for cultural diplomacy, artistic innovation, and international collaboration.

Rooted in the belief that art is a universal language capable of transcending borders and fostering empathy, SWPK actively curates and hosts a robust schedule of contemporary art exhibitions, public programs, artist talks, and cultural events. Our programming is designed to promote understanding and appreciation of non-Western aesthetics, with a particular emphasis on the work of Korean and Asian diaspora artists, as well as artists engaged in cross-cultural practices. By spotlighting underrepresented voices and narratives, SWPK invites audiences to consider the rich complexity and diversity of global contemporary art.

Located in SoHo, one of New York City’s most artistically vibrant neighborhoods, SWPK leverages its unique position to engage both local and international communities. Our exhibitions span a wide range of mediums and themes—from traditional forms reimagined in contemporary contexts to cutting-edge multimedia installations—reflecting the evolving nature of cultural identity and artistic expression in an interconnected world.

SWPK is proud to be a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. As a Consortium member of the Asia Contemporary Art Consortium (ACAW) and an active member of the SoHo Arts Network, we are part of a broader coalition of arts institutions committed to cultivating cultural equity, artistic excellence, and cross-cultural understanding. Our affiliations allow us to collaborate with curators, scholars, and artists globally, further amplifying the reach and impact of our mission.

As we continue to expand our reach, SWPK remains committed to honoring the visionary spirit of its founders while evolving as a vital cultural institution for the 21st century—one that celebrates difference, embraces dialogue, and envisions a more inclusive and interconnected future through the power of art.
